WASHINGTON – Rep. Cynthia McKinney, D-GA, has introduced a bill to provide for the "expeditious disclosure of records relevant to the life and death of Tupac Amaru Shakur," the rapper murdered in Las Vegas in 1996.
The bill has been referred to the Committee on Government Reform and Committee on Rules. Afenia Shakur, Tupac's mother and a former member of the Black Panthers, is reportedly supporting the effort. McKinney and Tupac devotees say they believe Shakur was under surveillance by the FBI and other governmental agencies at the time of the murder.
